From the Wadden Sea to the Alps, Germany’s biosphere reserves represent diverse habitats with rich biodiversity. Old beech forests, meadow orchards and clear lakes form unique natural and cultural landscapes.
As part of the family of “National Natural Landscapes”, they are an important component of the national strategy on biological diversity. The National Natural Landscapes today consist of 18 biosphere reserves, 16 national parks, 104 nature parks, and 3 certified wilderness areas.
