Im reichen Natuerbe Deutschlands nehmen die mehr als 100 Naturparke einen großen Raum ein. Mit einer Gesamtfläche von üner 9,6 Mio. Hektar dekcen sie mehr als ein Viertel der Landesfläche Deutschlands ab. Der Tourismus wird in den Naturparken großgeschrieben und ist zudem ein wichtiger Wirtschaftsfaktor in der Region. Besonders für die in den Städten lebende Bevölkerung bieten Naturparke im wahrsten Sinne nahe liegende Möglichkeiten, Naturerlebnisse zu sammeln.

Wildbestandsregulierung in deutschen Nationalparks

Alle Nationalparks in Deutschland haben das Problem einer im internationalen Vergleich relativ geringen Größe und der Einbettung in eine intensiv genutzte und dicht besiedelte Kulturlandschaft. Damit existieren gerade für Wildtiere vielfältige Vernetzungen zwischen ihren Lebensräumen in den Nationalparks und der umgebenden Kulturlandschaft mit ihren vorrangigen Nutzungsinteressen durch den Menschen.

Progress report 2009–2011

The third EUROPARC progress report on the National Natural Landscapes of Germany clearly shows the successful development of the German protected area system. Recognition of Swabian Alb and Bliesgau as UNESCO biosphere reserves, extension of the biosphere reserve Berchtesgardener Land to include the whole district of that name and the inscription of the Wadden Sea on UNESCO’s World Natural Heritage list were special highlights of a positive development in all of the around 130 National Natural Landscapes.
